Finding Your Own Tinnitus
Relief.

An article by Adrian Featherstone:

Only those of us that have lived with the sounds of tinnitus singing away in our
consciousness and who have suffered the constant ringing in the ears that goes with it truly understand the trauma
tinnitus creates. We and we alone know the destructive frustration that it brings into our lives and just
how desperate we are for some form of tinnitus relief.
Tinnitus is an unwelcome gate crasher into the most personal and private part of
our being. Tinnitus is to the mind as a cancer is to the flesh. It thrives on attention and makes itself most
active when we are most seeking to rest. It lives where we can’t touch it but from where it can touch our lives as
is its will.
As a child seeking attention will scream and will shout until it gets what it
wants, so will your tinnitus. However, the same child finding itself ignored when it creates, eventually settles
and quietens down. So too will your tinnitus. Learn not to focus on it and eventually it will fade off towards the
background.
The fear and frustration invoked by the belief that there is no cure for tinnitus
is very real. To be told that you are likely to have to live with this intruder into your senses for the rest of
your life can start a downward spiral of stress. The more you listen to the sounds of tinnitus the more you focus
on them. The more you focus on them the louder they become. A viscous circle develops to torment you.
The fact that the causes of tinnitus are at best uncertain delivers the reality
that there is no recognised or absolute cure. That said, there are tinnitus cures that do work for some sufferers.
Some people will get tinnitus relief in one way and some in another. Those believing the common view, that there is
no cure and are therefore unwilling to even try an alternative treatment are closing their own door on possible
tinnitus relief.
Those that go forward with a positive outlook and who are prepared to take a
chance will start a journey that at worst delivers hope and at best a cure. For many that try, the endgame may be
somewhere between the two. Only those who suffer can understand the rewards that even some relief can
bring.
Peace of mind and peace in the mind are potentially the reward for those that
step out of the box. Stress and depression are the self perpetuating nightmare of those that curl up and do
nothing. Which one are you?
